Ondrej Kase's stint with the Toronto Maple Leafs might have been marred by injuries, but he's hoping to make an NHL return next season.

The talented forward faced skepticism when the Maple Leafs offered him a one-year contract in 2021, largely due to his history of injuries which cast doubt on his ability to contribute consistently.
Despite the doubts, Kase managed to tally 27 points across 50 games during the 2021-22 NHL season. However, his journey with the Leafs ended when they chose not to extend his contract, making him a free agent in the summer of 2022. His subsequent move to the Carolina Hurricanes was unfortunately short-lived; a concussion restricted him to just a single game in the 2022-23 season.
Seeking a fresh start, Kase returned to his homeland in 2023, signing a one-year deal with Litvinov HC. His time in Czechia proved transformative, amassing an impressive 23 goals and 54 points in just 48 games. This resurgence has sparked his desire to return to North American ice.
"I wasn't sure how healthy I am and all season was actually great. I felt unbelievable. All injuries were done. I played with my brother. Even as kids, we wanted to always play together and this was our chance. It was a great season," Kase reflected on his health and the unique experience of playing alongside his brother during the 2023-24 season.

While it remains uncertain if the Maple Leafs or any other former teams will take another chance on him, Kase's improved health and notable performance in Czechia certainly make him an interesting prospect for NHL teams seeking skillful forwards.
With a career record of 57 goals and 124 points in 258 NHL games, spanning his time with the Maple Leafs, Hurricanes, Boston Bruins, and Anaheim Ducks, Kase's journey underscores a blend of resilience and skill. His potential return to the NHL could offer him another opportunity to prove his capabilities in the world's premier hockey league.
