The Toronto Maple Leafs are on the verge of finalizing their coaching staff for the upcoming season, with 2 candidates vying for the last position on Craig Berube's coaching staff.

Following the announcement that assistant coach Guy Boucher will not be returning, the spotlight now turns to the remaining assistant coach position, with Marc Savard and Brian Wiseman emerging as the leading candidates.
Marc Savard, previously an assistant with the Calgary Flames, parted ways with the team in May, a move announced via an official statement from the Flames, opening the door for a possible reunion with his former mentor, Berube.
His departure sparked immediate speculation about a potential move to the Maple Leafs. Despite the rumors, Savard has yet to secure a position with Toronto, leaving his immediate future in professional hockey somewhat uncertain.
On the other hand, Wiseman continues his tenure with the San Jose Sharks, where he has played a pivotal role in enhancing their power play. Under his guidance, the Sharks boasted the seventh-best power play in the league, an impressive feat given their overall ranking of 31st in the league standings.
Jeff Marek reported that the Sharks are keen to retain Wiseman, emphasizing his value to the team through.
Toronto's decision is crucial as they aim to revamp their special teams, particularly after their recent playoff disappointments largely attributed to ineffective power play strategies. With Wiseman potentially tied to the Sharks, Marc Savard appears to be in a prime position to claim the role, assuming negotiations follow through.
As the Leafs finalize their coaching lineup, the addition of either Savard or Wiseman could significantly influence their strategy and execution, making this a critical decision for the team's future ambitions.
